Privacy Policy

This page explains what data Toolbox collects, how it's used, and what choices you have. We've tried to write this in plain language and to only describe what the site actually does - not generic boilerplate.

The short version

Most tools on this site run entirely in your browser and never send your data anywhere. A handful of tools genuinely need to process something on our server or call a third-party service to work - those are always labeled on the tool page itself before you use them.

Information we collect

Client-side tools. The majority of tools (formatters, converters, calculators, generators, and similar) process everything locally in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you type or upload into these tools is transmitted to our servers.

File-processing tools. PDF and image tools that require server processing (e.g. merging PDFs) receive your uploaded file temporarily, process it, stream the result back to you, and delete the temporary file immediately afterward. We do not retain, back up, or inspect these files.

Account data (Curl Caller / site login). If you create an account, we store your username and a securely hashed password (we never store or have access to your plaintext password). If you save requests, they're stored under your account, associated only with your user ID.

URL Shortener. If you use the URL Shortener, we store the destination URL, the generated short code, and a click counter. No personal information is required to use it.

Local-storage tools. Tools like the Kanban Board and Habit Tracker save your data using your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Server logs. Like virtually all websites, our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical information for every request (IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for security and diagnostic purposes. We don't actively mine these logs for tracking.

Cookies. We use one functional session cookie to keep you logged in (if you have an account) and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. This cookie is not used for advertising or tracking and expires when you close your browser or log out.

Third-party services

A few tools call outside services to work, and disclose this directly on the tool page:

• What's My IP sends your IP address to ip-api.com to look up an approximate location.
• Grammar Checker sends the text you submit to the LanguageTool public API for analysis.
• Curl Caller sends the HTTP request you build (method, URL, headers, body) to whatever destination URL you configure - that's the tool's entire purpose. We don't inspect or store the content of these requests unless you explicitly save them to your account.

These services have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data you send them.

Advertising and cookies

This site may display ads served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

Data security

Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms (bcrypt via PHP's password_hash) and are never stored or logged in plaintext. Data is stored on our hosting provider's servers with standard access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your choices

You can stop using any tool at any time. If you have an account and want it and its associated data deleted, contact us using the details on our Contact page.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change what data we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
